The Sassy Sows Championship BBQ Team was formed in 2004 by three long-time Memphis in May Certified Barbecue Judges, Trudy Fisher, Julie Chaffin and Linda Hitt, of Jackson, Mississippi. When we think "barbecue," we think ribs - cooked "low and slow" the old-fashioned way - are the definition! So, we girls focus all of our tender, loving care on one competition category - Championship Ribs. We love the interaction of onsite judging, as well as the challenge of blind scoring, so we compete exclusively in Memphis Barbecue Network (www.mbnbbq.com) sanctioned contests. We have been fortunate to win a number of trophies and Grand Championships, including back-to-back Louisiana State Championships in 2006 and 2007. We have cooked the "Superbowl of Swine" - the "World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest" at Memphis in May - five times, finishing 4th in 2005, 4th in 2007 and 2nd in 2008, each time competing with over 100+ championship caliber rib teams. We love those cleavers and can't wait until May 2010!
